What you need to know about the area
When you are here with your Costa Rica rent a car, you may learn that the area�s first inhabitant arrived in 1930. In 1932, other settlers arrived in the area and formed a village. After 1952, the area began to flourish. In 1968, the Arenal Volcano erupted and buried more than one hundred inhabitants of the area. Before this eruption, the area was known as Arenal Peak and recent studies suggest that its last activity took place between 1200 and 1500 AD. This drove away some of the inhabitants, but attracted tourists who wanted to see the beauty of the area. Today it is a great place to see that is not too far from San Jose.
See the volcano
There are many ways that you can see the volcano when you are here with your car rental in Costa Rica. You can see it by canopying, rafting, mountain biking, horseback riding, and more. The Arenal Volcano National Park Tour will take you through the rain forest to the lava field from an eruption in 1992. You can also observe the current activity on the volcano. The Sky Tram and Sky Trek tour that will take you through the rainforest where you will have great views of the volcano and Arenal Lake. The first 500 meters of the trip will allow you to see the natural beauty of the area. Next, you will canopy over 8 cables up to 700 meters long.
Hot Springs in the area
The Arenal area has hot springs in the area that you can visit for relaxation when you are here with your Costa Rica rental car.
